About the artwork

Deeply inspired by nature, Kim Hee Kyung conceived of her ‘Bloom’ series in 2009. Delicately hand sculpted and moulded, the work is made of Hanji, a traditional Korean paper created from mulberry tree pulp. Reminiscent of a flower at the peak of its bloom, the work is a complete circle, which to Kim, is nature’s most complete form. As the viewer comes face to face with the striking red flower which is filled with beauty, love and harmony, “Bloom 190329” is at once soothing and awe-inspiring.
