About the artwork
Luxury Therapy is a contemporary installation that discusses the use of medicine today. Medicine capsules are fixed in aligned rows and columns, each made of bright lively colours. The coloured chrome tip is complemented with a glass finishing at the bottom section of the capsules, allowing the Swarovski crystals it encapsulates to be seen. This work comments on people’s inclination to dose on medicine as a means for healing or to satisfy particular needs. Benefits of medicine consumption are advertised by the Swarovski crystals filling the capsule, an indication that prescription holds equal importance as treasured crystals, a reflection of our desire for it. Concurrently, the luminous colours exude a dilemma, a sign of threat alike bright colours seen on a poisonous reptile.
