Oil on Canvas, 130 x 100 cm
About the artwork
Yi Zhou often adds elements of traditional philosophy to his works. In this work, he exhibits the zen of emptiness through his fragile canvas of transient colour. When the bottle is empty, the artist says, you can put anything into it. Just as in Buddhist philosophy - all is nothing and nothing is all. When you don't have anything, you may have the world already.
