About the artwork
59 GGG Born in China in 1981, Wu Qiong is a skilled sculptor and painter, who creates touching and amusing works that are inspired by the joy of youth. This sculpture depicts a couple with closed eyes and upturned expressions who appear to be embarking on travels, as the man carries a small trunk in one hand. To the artist, life is a journey, in which the process is much more significant than the destination itself. The couple’s arms are intertwined, signifying the sense of comfort they find in each other, and how they provide assurance and support to face their unknown futures together.
