About the artwork
Adi Gunawan’s Yoga Series sculpture captures a playful yet powerful interpretation of the human form in motion. This bronze piece, with its exaggerated proportions and smooth, polished finish, depicts a figure mid-handstand, legs pointed confidently toward the sky. The artist’s signature style—characterized by voluminous, rounded bodies and a sense of joyful energy—is evident here, transforming a moment of physical discipline into a celebration of balance, strength, and humor. The simplified, almost whimsical anatomy invites viewers to reflect on the harmony between mind and body that yoga represents, while also highlighting the universal pursuit of inner peace and resilience. Gunawan’s work often bridges tradition and contemporary expression, and this sculpture is no exception: it evokes both the serenity of yoga practice and the lightheartedness that comes from self-acceptance. Through this striking form, Gunawan reminds us that mindfulness can be found not only in stillness, but also in playful movement.
