Church
Ink on Rice Paper, 75 x 66 cm
About the artwork
Lim Tze Peng's "Church" captures an architectural subject with a delicate, impressionistic touch. The church, depicted with a tall, central tower and ornate facade, is rendered in subtle washes of gray and white, suggesting a sense of age and history. Loose, calligraphic lines define the building's structure, while splashes of soft yellow, blue, and pink create an ethereal, atmospheric quality around it. Small figures at the base add a human element, grounding the majestic structure in everyday life. The painting's light, airy feel and the artist's signature brushwork convey a sense of fleeting beauty and quiet reverence.
