About the artwork

Annalu dreamy sculptures enchant onlookers by her incorporation of hyper-realistic splashes of water and rich brilliant colors. Her pieces evoke an imaginative journey by the use of intricately placed, seemingly suspended in time elements of nature. Annalu work features deeply lyrical and evocative characteristics, but also a huge formal impact, with images involving power and exalted symbolic allure.

About the artist

Born in 1976 in San Donà di Piave, near Venice, Annalù (A. Boeretto) is a contemporary Italian artist celebrated for her dreamlike sculptures that blend natural elements with experimental materials. Living and working in her stilt house on the banks of the Piave River, Annalù draws deeply from her surroundings to create ethereal works that seem to hover between the organic and the otherworldly. Over the years, Annalù has exhibited extensively across Italy and internationally, including at prestigious venues such as the Venice Biennale (2001, 2011) and the Moya Museum in Vienna.

Her work is held in numerous public and private collections worldwide, and she has garnered critical acclaim through multiple awards such as the Arte Laguna Prize, the Zaha Hadid Award, and the Stonefly Prize for Contemporary Art. Through her innovative use of materials such as resin, fiberglass, bark, paper, and glass, Annalù constructs “suspended worlds”—delicate, flowing sculptures that defy gravity and expectation. Her pieces, often resembling blooming lotus flowers, exploding books, or dissolving butterflies, evoke a sense of metamorphosis, transformation, and timeless beauty.
