Takashi Murakami, the figurehead of the Neo-Pop Art Movement, creates works of art inspired by otaku and manga culture popular in Japan, raising the status of such popular art forms, and blurring the lines between “high” and “pop” art. In this work, the print he creates depicts a scene of jovial friendship inspired by the Doraemon manga and anime series, that is familiar to many in Japan and across the world.
