About the artwork
As part of Xie Ai Ge's series of sketches, this particular piece differs from the rest. In this artwork, the nude woman sitting down depicted is intently turning to the left side. Xie Ai Ge's use of white space delineates the woman's inner nature through her surroundings; furthermore, the negative space highlights her figure and position. Notably, her right shoulder and other ligaments are resting in a relaxed manner, implying her current state of mentality and her ability to feel comfortable without clothing. The woman's posture, facial expression, and bareness all give prominence to Xie's theme of obtaining peace of mind.
