Chums J beautifully captures its magnificent through her use of colour, blending charming and vivid pink shades with lush greenery, creating a vibrant contrast that stimulates the eye. This is furthered by the unique textures produced by thick impaso, which provides viewers with a fascinating visual experience as the form of the flowers appear to advance towards the viewer. Through her expressive technique and bold use of colour, the emerging Thai artist recontextualizes the traditional artistic movement of impressionism, and interprets it in a manner that is relevant to modernised youth and society.
About the artist
Born in 1992, Chums J is an emerging Thai artist in the Southeast Asian art scene. Her promising work is an attempt to re-access the traditional artistic influence of impressionism. Working mainly in the medium of oil paints and the use of impasto techniques, she intends to interpret the traditional artistic process in a manner that sparks relevance and becomes relatable to our modernized youth and society. Through her expressive style and technique and bold use of colour, Chumsri explores the themes of spontaneity, happiness and companionship in our global culture today.
