About the artwork

Spanish artist Eva Armisen is known for her works which touch on subjects like family, love and togetherness, and feature her signature child-like style. In this work, a mother carries her son on her shoulders as they walk across a field. The warm yellow of the son’s shirt and the vivid red of the mother’s top bring vibrancy to this work, that is furthered by the sweet smiles on both their faces, as well as the bright green and blue of the landscape behind them. The sense of energy is also created through the mother’s dynamic pose, raising her hands above her head to hold her son’s arm up. This charming painting encapsulates the joy found in the simple moments of our everyday lives, as well as the feeling of contentment gained from being with our loved ones.
