| New Artists - Chua Ek Kay & Hong Zhu An |

Chua Ek Kay and Hong Zhu An
Ode to Art are proud to present Singaporean artists Chua Ek Kay and Hong Zhu An.
Both Chua and Hong have their origins in Shanghai, China, and have truly revolutionised Chinese ink painting with their unique styles. Chua marries Western styles with Chinese traditions, drawing inspiration from a sentimentality towards China's landscapes. Hong's works recall precious and fundamental elements of China’s great artistic past and formidable landscapes and breaks conceptual and aesthetic ground by giving new meaning to the line that is the foundation of Chinese art and culture.
Chua and Hong tap on their personal life experiences, emotions and a high level of personal attainment in good character and disposition, culture and tradition to shape their artistic sensitivities. When this introspection and rich tapestry of knowledge is combined with their excellent technique and intuitive ability to accurately express their feelings on the canvas, they create universal, timeless works that transcend both time and space. Chua and Hong exemplify the close relationship between Shanghai's and Singapore's art scenes, where many of the Singaporean artists either originally came from Shanghai or had pursued art studies in Shanghai. This cultural exchange has enriched both countries, and has resulted in artworks that combine both Chinese traditions with Western modernity.
