Biography

Tjokorda is an artist based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. His style had been described by intense and thought-provoking as he depicts the energy of animals and humans with aggressive brushstrokes. His paintings are an expression of the human soul, manifested in the rawness of the art pieces. This is Tjokorda's way of depicting the reality of human soul and its relationship with the environment.

Says Tjokorda on his artworks,

"Abstraction is the process of visualization which emphasizes the freedom of visual forms of nature are simplified to show the impressions of essential form, character, and phenomenon" this is my statement about abstraction. I run in accordance with real flavor. Nature is an imagination to me, and pretty faces always warm my heart.

One of my painting titled – Funny Panda, it is one of the endangered species due to habitat loss and the low reproductive rate, both in the wild and in captivity. Panda also became a tool of cultural diplomacy for China. In particular the loan of pandas to zoo in the United States & Japan - massive imports lead to acts of exploitation of these animals occur. Consequently, the preservation of their habitat is increasingly threatened. Exploitation encouraged me to express empathy in a canvas. With the dominance of white and dark blue tinge a little black and other colors, I express spoiled panda crouching motion. The red color of the eyes implies anger, to scratch wounds in the body, over exploitation by man."
